Ok, before I get lambasted – I am not one for blaspheming either, but these words did come into my head today as I tackled the umpteenth hill on the Saul Griddle 10k! What a run this is. Saul (not far from Downpatrick) undoubtedly has some of the most beautiful countryside and this 10k is definitely one for the annual calendar – but it’s real tightener!
After doing (badly) the Seeley Cup 10k last weekend I decided lastminute.com to do this 10k for a bit of a run out. The start of the run has a downward hill at something like a 17 degree gradient and it goes down for nearly half a mile. My first mile clocked @6 mins 40! Sadly though the remainder of the run was spent making up for this great start.
Coming in at 47:50ish it’s hardly a run to get a PB but we did climb 117metres (according to My Garmin anyway!)
